Friday Review

So, a few minor things have happened lately that aren't large enough to really discuss in depth, but are interesting nevertheless.

1) The Pope has a children's book coming out. It's going to be about the Twelve Apostles (including Judas), St. Matthias, and St. Paul. Inspired by the traditional Wednesday catecheses of Pope Benedict XVI, each Apostle will get 3-4 pages. The English and Spanish translations will probably be out this year, and I know that I'll be picking one up.

2) Pope Benedict XVI is the 7th oldest Pope as of July 19th (okay, so it's only including the Popes since 1400). He is currently 83. The blog Popes and Papacy, and Zenit, has a little more information about it. It's my prayer that Pope Benedict XVI is around for a lot longer. Vivat Benedictus!

3) BBC prepares balanced coverage of Pope's upcoming visit... yeah, right. When I was in Scotland, I saw the BBC's version of 'balanced'. Because a balanced TV network would normally be in talks of having a program that is "a 90-minute drama that puts the Pope on trial, accused of covering up sex abuse perpetrated by priests", right? That seems balanced, right? And don't forget the program over Cardinal John Henry Newman, which made him out to be a homosexual.

Well, that's 3 things from Rome. Enjoy the Catholic News Roundup below, and have a great weekend.
G-d Bless!
