As the General Synod (the Anglican church's parliament) gets ready to vote on legislation designed to allow for the free ordination of women as bishops, a group of MPs will ask Parliament to intervene. The reaction comes as fear grows that the Anglican church will reject the legislation. The group that will seek Parliament's intervention includes former ministers Frank Field and Stephen Timms, as well as Simon Hughes (deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats).

March for Life (Homily by Cardinal DiNardo)
I attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C., this year for the third time. In the coming days, I will post interviews with three different Pro-Lifers that attended the March with the question of "Why are you Pro-Life?"
The video attached to this post is of the opening remarks by Daniel Cardinal DiNardo and (newly) Donald Cardinal Wuerl at the Vigil of the March for Life in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. After the opening is Cardinal DiNardo's excellent homily. It is worth the full 29 minutes (there are 3 separate videos in case you can't watch it all at once).
Here is an excellent article on the Vigil.
What are your thoughts on the homily?

The First Anglican Ordinariate!
The National Catholic Register is carrying an article about the first Anglican ordinariate. The ordinariate, in fact, has been established this weekend as three 'bishops'- John Broadhurst Andrew Burnham and Keith Newton- are ordained into the Catholic priesthood (here's the Holy See Press Office announcement). These 'bishops' have previously resigned their posts in the Church of England, and they have already been received into the Catholic Church. The ordinations will take place in Westminster Cathedral, the cathedral of the diocese of Westminster in London (not to be confused with Westminster Abbey, which was stolen from us by the Church of England). Furthermore, the Register is reporting that "at least 35 groups and 50 Anglican clergy will enroll as candidates for the ordinariate [at Lent] and will be received into the Catholic Church at Easter. The clergy will then be ordained around the time of Pentecost."

Creeds, Creeds, Everywhere Creeds! Part 1 of 2
Creeds are an essential part of the Christian life, both Catholic and Protestant. A creed is simply a statement of belief or faith, usually of a religious nature. The term creed is derived from the Latin credo, translated "I believe", which comes from the first word of both the Apostle's and Nicene Creeds. In this post, we'll look at the most common creed in Christianity- the Apostle's Creed. We will look at this creed in regards to its history, importance, and content. An English translation of the Apostle's Creed can be found here. In the next post we'll examine the second most common creed, and the one most used by Catholics- The Nicene Creed.

Bishop Olmsted's Decision
Sorry for the lateness of this post, I've been on vacation for the past two weeks and haven't had access to a computer.
Well, St. Joseph’s Medical Center and Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) have made their decision to not comply with the requests of Bishop Olmsted. In the last post, I wrote about how St. Joseph's Medical Center- the same hospital that allowed an abortion despite the fact that it is a Catholic hospital- was being threatened to lose its 'Catholic' status. St. Joseph's and CHW, the group in charge of the hospital, were asked to comply with 3 requests:
