Office of Readings for Blessed Pope John Paul II

The Vatican has put up on its website the Office of Readings for Pope John Paul II's feast day (October 22).
You can read the English here.
And the Latin original here.

This follows shortly on the heels of the announcement of Blessed Pope John Paul II's feast day (you can read the post here). As someone that prays the Divine Office, I enjoy feast days that allow me to read from the writings of the particular saint. It is appropriate that the chosen text for Pope John Paul II's feast day is from his homily at his papal inauguration, because it corresponds to the date of his feast (October 22- the date of his papal inauguration).

Feast Day for Venerable Pope John Paul II Announced

October 22 will mark the feast of Pope John Paul II. The date chosen marks the day of his papal inauguration in 1978.

Like that news? Then you'll love this. Usually, thanksgiving Masses for a beatification are limited to places where the person lived or worked. However, “the exceptional character of the beatification of the Venerable John Paul II, recognized by the entire Catholic Church spread throughout the world,” led to a general permission for the thanksgiving Mass, as stated by a decree from the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments. It is up to the ordinary when and where the Mass(es) are offered. The only requirement is that they are celebrated previous to May 1, 2012 (a year after his beatification).

Amazing Grace- Understanding in the Light of Catholicism Part 1 of 3

Can Amazing Grace be understood in an orthodox, Catholic way? My answer is yes. This is a pretty hot topic. I've seen people almost get into blows over the issue of whether Amazing Grace can be understood as a Catholic hymn.
