First Scottish Priest for Our Lady of Walsingham

The first Scottish Priest for Our Lady of Walsingham was ordained this past Sunday at St. Mary's Church, Greenock. Father Len Black is 61, and was an Episcopal minister for 30 years. Father Black estimates that a dozen parishioners will join with him in the ordinariate. There will be two groups in Scotland that will be part of Our Lady of Walsingham, the Highland Ordinariate Group and the Central Scotland Ordinariate Group. Both the Ordinariate (Our Lady of Walsingham) and the Scottish Ordinariate Group have websites.

I'm glad that the Scottish are hopping on board. When my fiancee and I were studying abroad in Scotland, we had a little joke between us (which was, in fact, fairly accurate and true). Whenever we would see a church, we would guys whether it was Catholic or Church of England/Ireland/Scotland. Our requirement? If it was closed or shutdown it was England/Ireland/Scotland; if it was open it was Catholic. It started off as a joke, but the more she and I traveled the more we realized that it was often true.
