Intolerance in the name of 'tolerance'?

Yeah, it happens all the time. People, the "open minded" and the "all accepting" to be specific, seem to try and find people being intolerant. In this case, a Baptist preacher was arrested for saying that homosexual acts are a sin. Dale Mcalpine says that he stated to someone and to a gay police officer that he believed that the act of homosexuality is a sin. He says that once he climbed up a latter and began preaching, he did not mention homosexuality. He is charged with speaking abusive or insulting words or behaviour contrary to the Public Order Act 1986. Mcalpine has preached outdoors for years, but has never been in trouble with the law before. You can find a newspaper article about it here.

I find it so funny. First, this position is a very Catholic position. The Catholic Church does not hate homosexuals, just the act of homosexuality. This is important, and many people (including some that have personally attacked me) fail to see the difference. Here's an example: I know a mother whose son has stolen from her. He has done it time and time again, but she continues to take him back. When I asked her why, she told me that she hates it when her son steals from her... but she still loves her son.

Hosea provides another example. Hosea was basically told by G-d to go out and marry a prostitute. He did so, and he took her into his home. Even though he provided for her, she would still leave him and go out and prostitute. Again and again Hosea would go out and take her back. Hosea obviously didn't condone her actions, but what he could do was love her.

Let's remember that Mcalpine didn't say he hated homosexuals, nor did he anywhere state any hatred of homosexuals. In fact, but telling people that he thinks homosexuality is a sin shows his love for these people, because he wants them to go to Heaven. All-in-all, this simply displays how many in the UK, and I would say liberals in general, don't understand philosophy or rational thought.

Again, comments are well enjoyed!

I'll be gone until Monday.
